Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe of China
The Butterfly Lovers
Contemporary Acrobatic Theatre
Using acrobatics as its core stage language, the production integrates dance and contemporary stage aesthetics, telling its story through the human body to create a live experience that transcends language and strikes directly at the emotions.
Its visual climax lies in Shoulder Ballet, a groundbreaking acrobatic art form originated in China—where the human body becomes the stage, performing ballet movements under extreme balance. Strength and elegance unfold simultaneously, forming a breathtaking and nearly unrepeatable visual spectacle.
Performed entirely without spoken dialogue, the work carries no language barrier, allowing audiences from all cultural backgrounds to intuitively connect with its emotional flow. Inspired by the classic love legend The Butterfly Lovers, themes of love, sacrifice, and freedom emerge organically on stage with clarity and emotional depth.
